The band started in March of 2010 as The Uncommon, with Ryan Kiolbassa as the guitarist and vocalist, Brett Kiolbassa as the bassist, and Dan Doren as the drummer. After a few gigs together, the band split due to creative differences. Brett quit bass and started playing the drums, while Ryan wrote song after song.
Later that summer, Ryan hired his friend, Peter Bartot, to play bass. With Brett behind the drums, and Peter on bass, the band sounded better, more agressive and they had perfect timing. After playing several party gigs, the band was developing an identity and a personality at their live shows. That personality was expanded in the late winter of 2010, with the addition of Jake Trch as a 2nd guitarist and a backing vocalist. The band went through several changes in the band name, including Anarchistic Youth and Failure to Forget, but they now have the name of Dead Authority.
Dead Authority won a local battle of the bands competition, and got to record a demo in a professional studio. Not long after recording that demo, the bassist of the time, Peter, left the band. They solved this problem by having the guitarist, Jake Trch, switch to bass and they hired Brian Shull as their new guitarist. A week after Brian joined the band, Dead Authority played their first show with the new line-up. It was a great one.
Their debut EP, "The First EP" was released on July 20th, 2013. Buy it today! The fall of 2013 brought another line up change when bassist Jake Trch left the band. They hired their old bassist from 2011, Peter Bartot, and are now recording a full length album set to come out in the Spring of 2014. Be on the lookout for that album and any shows/tours!
